Methods For Using Flower Essences
Following on from my recent article, The Transformational Power of Flower Essences, an introduction to Bach Flower Remedies. I thought it may be useful to create guidance on the ways essences can be used.
Most essence ranges can be used internally and externally. There are some ranges that are only for external use but they are very clear about this when you purchase. In case of the Bach range, they are suitable for both methods.
Given that essences work on the subtle energy bodies and correct energy imbalances, they do not need to be ingested; although this is a popular method of usage.
Below is a range of ways for you try when using your essences.
Ingesting via liquid
The most common method of taking any essence is by adding a few drops to water, or your chosen drink and then ingesting this. Although essences are not medicine, many people feel comfortable using this method as it does feel as if you are taking ‘medicine’. Essences can even be ‘dropped’ directly into the mouth or under the tongue. If you are using multiple essences at a time you can create a dosage bottle by adding drops of each essence to be used in a bottle containing spring water. This dosage bottle can be carried around with you and added to drinks throughout the day, as opposed to carrying multiple essence bottles around with you. As part of my flower essence consultation, I provide multiple essences in one dosage bottle as required. For more information see the link below and information at the end of the article.

External Methods
However there are also many other methods that some may be unfamiliar with that work just as well.
Bathing
Your chosen essences can be added to your bath water. This is an excellent method of use and very relaxing. This however needs to be supplemented with other methods given most people don’t take three baths daily.
The Aura
Essences can be used directly with the aura. This can be done by placing a few drops on the palms of your hands and then using a sweeping motion around the body, a short distance away from the skin. This is simple and effective.
Sprays
Sprays are a very popular method of using essences, especially when using essences for spare clearing. However they can also be made up at home and used to spray around your aura when you are using essences personally. Alternatively you are able to spray above the head letting the droplets fall down towards the crown. I find that using both these methods together work extremely well. It is important to note that if you are purchasing essences already in spray form they are most probably not for internal use as they will be mixed with essential oils or hydrosols. This is so that you are aware of where you have sprayed the essence and because it is pleasant for the recipient.
Cosmetics
Essences can be added to skin care and used externally on the body. An example would be adding a few drops to your face cream, in the morning. Again an easy method to implement, however would need to be supplemented with other methods listed here.
Inhalation
A beautiful method of using essences is by placing a few drops on the palm of your hands, rubbing them together and then bring your hands up to your face and inhaling. Simple, effective and a most relaxing method to implement. Essences can also be added to oil burners in the home, although you are unable to control where the essences reaches if you do not live alone.
Frequency of Use
It is usually suggested that essences are taken 3 to 4 times a day. A combination of the methods above can be used.
